Easter: Bunny Run Breakfast

McKneelys have a tradition, the Easter Bunny not only brings eggs which he hides outside when the weather permits but he also brings breakfast in the form of small cereal boxes, bananas, yogurts, juices and small cartons of milk. He (we) make our kids work for their breakfast!

"Chubbs" decided to sleep in an hour later than normal (of all days) and we made "KP" wait for him to wake up. He didn't quite get the concept at first but by the end he was giving Mom all the food and keeping all the eggs for himself. It was FUN!! Oh, if Mom doesn't look so hot it's because she'd had a minor surgery just days before and was still recovering. It's a little too personal for a blog but just know that we're mending and doing better each day! We've had so much wonderful help from friends over the past week, and couldn't have survived without them. Hope you had a Happy Easter

Mom trashed the van

So my beautiful, wonderful, fancy van got a boo-boo. This past Monday I was running an errand, was a bit distracted from just helping a woman in an unfortunate situation, and had been in the car with the kids a bit longer than anticipated. KP and BL had both zonked but Chubbs was DONE being in the car and was being a bit fussy. I was trying to soothe him while turning into the garage and boom! I hit the doorjam of the garage and the storm drain pipe. Out of first instinct I backed up only to realize I was entangled with my house. I stopped and got out to inspect the damage. I got Chubbs out of his carseat and in his words "Mommy Crash Car". Oh Brother! But at least it gave me something to smile about. The front bumper was scratched and pulled back off the car but I bearly missed the light and the front fender (THANKFULLY). I thought for sure we were going to have to replace the whole thing. So Stephen arrived home and the first thing Chubbs says really excitedly is "Daddy, Mommy vroom crash car!" Thanks a lot buddy. But I am so blessed because my husband is so wonderful and he was able to disentangle me from the house and push the bumper back into place. It doesn't look very pretty but it's functional and we can live with it like this for a little while at least.

HAPPY ST PATRICKS DAY!

HAPPY ST PATRICKS DAY!!

We tried to get Chubbs into this shot too but he was strangly still a bit overwhelmed by just seeing an ambulence and fire truck in our neighborhood. Weird! I thought he'd love going to see them but he clung to me really tight and even 10 mintues after being back in the house he still was a bit concerned. So enjoy a green day! I offered to make green eggs (KP had them at school a couple weeks ago for a Dr. Seuss unit and has been asking for them ever since) but Krispy Kremes won out over funky colored eggs. Stephen was glad!

So this past Saturday we decided to get up early and go to Krispy Kremes for breakfast. We had a yummy time! Chubbs loved watching the big machine make the donuts and he quickly learned the word for the delicious treat. Funny thing is that his word for Snowman (do-nah) sounds strangly close to donut but that's the way it is. KP loved eating the donuts and had 2. Because we bought 2 dozen we've been eating them ever since and the kids are eager to return soon!

My baby starts school

So we've been preschool shopping over the last few weeks for KP for the fall and have found the most charming, loving and wonderful place for her not to far from home, and would you believe they had a couple openings for right now! So yesterday KP started preschool. It's just 2 mornings a week from 8:30 to 11:45 but it is long enough to give her something fun to do and look forward to and to give me a chance to spend some good time with Chubbs.

It was an over the top day! She woke up to snow (see other post) and started preschool!! She has a wonderful teacher who seized the opportunity of the snow and brought a bin into the classroom to let the children make snowballs and play in this anomole. KP came home all smiles and so pleasant--sign number one we found the right place!! Horray!!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow...in March?!?

What a suprise! We had a cold wet front come through the other night and it dumped about 2-3 inches of beautiful snow here in Allen--go figure it's March?!? It got up to 60 degrees the next day so it didn't stay around long, but we did enjoy it.

KP spent as much time as possible outside making footprints and snowballs. Right when she got home from her first day of preschool (see other post) she spent about 45 minutes It wasn't long before she drenched her tennis shoes. She came in and announced that her pink cowgirl boots would work much better so we got her all outfitted...by the time she was done her pants were wet up to her knees, her mittens were drenched, and she was grinning ear to ear! Then after naps/resting time it was round 2 with a new dry set of clothes and this time the backyard was the winter wonderland!

Chubbs was another story. He went out with dad in the morning to start scraping his car, he was a bit overwhelmed with his world that now turned white. Dad tried to get him into the snow and he wanted no part of it. I tried again later just to have him touch it and again it was a no go. But he did learn the word and saw a few snowmen made around town and those "Do-nah's" were a hit!!

Branding Starts Earley

So this last weekend we went to Home Depot to pick up a few things for our yard. We happened upon a free workshop for kids so with Dad's help of course, Chubbs and KP got to make wooden cars like the NASCAR Home Depot car. They even got their own orange aprons with a little pin to show their participation in this workshop. Throw in the balloons they each got and it was a completely successful activity!! Hubby has a particular loyalty to Lowes, we just happened to be at HD this once. Our neighbor "Happy" is a big wig HR person with HD we walked on over to show her we'd bit the bullet and let our children wear the orange!! She was pleased to say the least!!
