Other July Highlights

Okay, for the sake of catching up the blog, this is one big post on what else happened in July (other than the epic road trip).

4th of July was spent with my parents, sister, brother and his wife and 2 sweet girls (visiting from Japan).  We had a BBQ at my parents and then headed to watch fireworks.  I HAVE to save these funny photos my dad shot with his camera--proof that my kids are all related!

We arrived home from our road trip to some news that Stephen's father had abruptly lost his job, this combined with his mother turning 60 and ALL of us McKneelys were out of town on her birthday prompted a last minute trip to College Station just days after being home to surprise Susan for her birthday.  (When it was Carl's 60th we went on a Disney Cruise to the Bahamas after all--she needed something!)  I had the task of taking her "shopping" while the rest of the family arrived from Dallas and Houston and we all met for lunch!  Then we all returned home where her closest friends joined us for cake and ice cream and the house had been decorated with 60 things we love about Mom/Susan/Grandma!  What a treasure she is to us!

The Summer Olympic Games took place in London and they were a thrill to watch.  Our children really enjoyed the swimming and gymnastics, they were inspiring and caused us to go to bed far to late every night for 2 weeks.

We had our own rendition.  Laura and her girls, Mom, Rachel and baby Clara also had to take a trip to Nauvoo to see Aunt Sarah be a missionary and we were the pit stop on a Monday night.  We enacted our own version of the Olympics with obstacle courses, long jump, and the swimming noodle javelin throw.  Stephen got pretty intense with his judging and determining winners.  He even found some medals so we could have a ceremony!  We love family time!

Then on they took Sam and Kaitlyn with them.  Sam spent the week with Grandma and was purely spoiled and Kaitlyn spent the week with her cousins in Houston.  I went to pick them up later that week.

While they were gone, Lindsey and Matthew had a chance to head over to grandma and grandpa Lewis' to try out some new toys....
