Random Summer happenings

Here are some random memories from August that I wanted to capture.

Matthew injured his middle finger at church, our friend Jon Foulger thought this was HILARIOUS and shared this photo with me.

I LOVE having my children home and letting them do fun things.  Our neighbor, Mark had these boxes which he so lovingly gifted to my children to play with.  They were the favorite place to have lunch one day (and I was thrilled because for once Matthew stayed in place while eating!)

I introduced my children to a Lewis Family favorite dinner in the summer:  Sherbet with fresh fruit, cheese and crackers, and nuts.  It was so popular, our friends the Lofgrens stole the idea and Trent was a HERO when he came home and announced that it was ice cream for dinner.  LOL!

Kaitlyn perfected another baking treat--the BROOKIE

We had some neighbor friends over to bake cookies and enjoyed being silly....

(for the record, Matthew doesn't have his own apron so he borrows Sam's)

Summertime Bucket list--have a lemonade stand

I gave in.  ALL summer my children have begged me to have a lemonade stand.  But they'd ask me at the worst times.  ENOUGH, we figured out when to have it, planned for it, and pulled it off.  They made cute signs, told me I needed to use the cute table cloth to make it look nice, we publicized it on Facebook and in two hours these cuties brought in nearly $40.

Kaitlyn and I whipped up a batch of her famous Andes Mint Cupcakes and those really sold fast.  What a great experience for my kid entrepreneurs!  They would get so thrilled whenever someone came by that they knew, even Grandpa Lewis came by!

Vacation To Nauvoo--July 2015

Summer 2015 "Bummer" (Ben and Summer and their family) who live in Japan came to the states to attend the wedding of her brother which was taking place in Iowa.  While they didn't have the time or the funds to come to Texas, they said that if we could get to Nauvoo, they'd meet us there for a couple days.   We twisted Aaron's arm and his family came to join us, and my Dad came too.  It was a good couple days to be together.  The cousins really love being together.  Especially Sam and Grant.

We got a kick out of these buses which were there, "Sam's Limousines". LOL!
Lindsey got called up on stage in "Just Plan Anna Amanda".

This is the only photo I want to remember the hotel with.  AWFUL, DIRTY, sketchy people staying there, the person checking in in front of me had had her identity stolen and someone was staying in her reserved room, a homeless man was discovered to have stolen all the food for the FREE breakfast, it was AWFUL!

LOVE!
Sacrament meeting on Sunday morning in Nauvoo.
Carthage Jail on Sunday afternoon with Ben and Summer on our way out of town.

4th of July--Independence Day

Kaitlyn went away to cooking camp at grandma's house with her cousins Shelly and Ashlyn.  She had a marvelous time!  While she was gone, we went to see a movie (it was bright outside):

Then when her time was over, we went to College Station to go get her and celebrate with our family.  We started the morning with yummy waffles which were decorated like american flags with berries and whipped cream.  Grandma is SO FUN!

Of course we spent so much time in the pool that our fingers and toes got all wrinkly....

And something that Sam really wanted to do was to go canoeing in the pond in grandma and grandpa's neighborhood.

These girls had made a yummy dessert to enjoy--they're so proud of all the things they made and learned during the week with grandma.
And of course there were fireworks!

July 2015

This photo to me is the epitome of summer.  Kids running around in swim suits.  Eating popsicles outside.  Smiling and happy.  I LOVE summertime with my kids.  Relaxed schedules.  Time to play.  This is heaven to me.

We've continued to meet up regularly with Matthew's buddies from preschool.  This time it was at the splash pad in Fairview....
