Kaitlyn has officially finished pre-school. She's ready for kindergarten. Here she is on her last day of school with her teachers "Mrs. Griff" and "Mrs. Door-T". They're wonderful and Kaitlyn loves them.
The adventures of a family where everyone matters--it's a loud crazy life, but we LOVE it!

My Asian Son
Wednesday was a busy day for us. Kaitlyn's preschool class had a picnic and we had so much fun and got a bit burned. Sam got burned worst of all but it still wasn't THAT bad. So imagine my surprise when he woke up Thursday morning looking like this:
On a bad sunburn, I've been known to swell a bit but this was suspicious to me to say the least. It seemed like an allergic reaction to something but for the time being I put some solarcaine on it (which caused his skin to get red and blotchy.....) we had breakfast and when getting him dressed I noticed this rash of little red dots all over his torso and around his diaper lines.....
Calling the doctor, putting him in an oatmeal bath. He's not seeming uncomfortable or hindered by the reaction in the least. We tried some Benadryl but the swelling still wasn't going down so off the the doctor we go. He exclaimed, "Sam you look like an oompa-loompa!" (No I wasn't offended)
Here's what we realized. To treat a NASTY diaper rash a friend had suggested to put Dermaplast on it to relieve the pain. I inadvertently sprayed some on his torso and face. (he was laying on his back...) When putting the pieces together outloud he said, "yeah mom, and some got into my mouth--yuck!" BINGO, MYSTERY SOLVED!
Medicine worked like a charm, swelling, rash and redness much better by bedtime.

Our First Family Pet
I know what you're thinking....that I've totally lost my marbles choosing this time in our life to get a pet, but I can explain.
A few weeks ago we discovered that it's rolly polley bug season. They were everywhere outside and when we went on our many walks we loved seeing and playing with these cute little bugs. There was an afternoon when Kaitlyn became so enamored with one of these little bugs on our driveway that she asked if she could take it inside to be her pet. I told her that Rolley polley bugs don't belong in houses, they live outside with their families. That worked.
So imagine her delight when yesterday morning we found a rolley polley bug in our house on the tile. She immediately claimed it her pet and spent the better part of the morning playing with it and then, she even built it a house out of lego blocks!

Kaitlyn's "Big Performance"
Kaitlyn's school year is coming to a close. This means we attend the end of the year musical show.
This year it was a 50s theme and the kids were to wear white shirts and black pants. She wanted her hair in pig tails. So cute! Her class recited a poem, complete with hand gestures, it was precious!!:

Dig a little hole,
plant a little seed,
pour a little water,
pull a little weed,
catch a little little bug (hi-ho there it goes),
give a little sunshine,
grow a little rose.

Then they sang a song, "There's something in my shoe" and for the 50's finale they danced to Yakity Yack! Don't talk back.
Kaitlyn really impressed me with remembering all the dance moves. I totally love her school, it has been such a good place for her. So much more nurturing and personal that I imagine public school kindergarten will be next year. But she's ready!! now if only I can make it through this summer......

The day has come....
Lindsey starts Nursery! Appropriately her first day was Mothers Day (because we were out of town and sick the week before).
She did pretty well, Sam is in there with her too so that totally helps. She walked right in. But after a bit I checked on her, I was informed that she may need a diaper change so I walked in and picked her up for the smell test, it was a false alarm. But then she wouldn't let me leave her so we walked the halls, like we normally do. Oh well, we'll try again next week.
Sam was wonderful with her, making sure she was okay and happy and engaged. He felt really important.

House For Sale--a Miracle occurs
It is really weird having the home you live in have a sign in the front proclaiming to the world that you no longer want to be there and want to be somewhere else. For me it's like this home takes it first step to not being mine anymore kind of sad and weird at the same time.....
But what else this means is that I've become the cleaning crazy woman who has to think twice before the play-dough comes out. The other night (and I'm still repenting from this one) the house is on the market and Sam gets sick in his bed throwing up. My first thought was not for my sick child who is running a fever and throwing up, my first thought was DANG IT! I have a showing first thing in the morning, can I get all this bedding washed and back on the bed to make the house presentable. SHAME ON ME!!!!
But the unbelievable happened!! Our house went active on the MLS 1:00 Friday May 1st. We had 1 showing that night and 3 the next day. By 3:30 Saturday our Realtor calls with an offer!!! We negotiated on it for a couple days and got to where we needed to be....our house is under contract.
We had a ton of traffic on our house and it was hard not being able to be here and keeping the house clean but all in all I only had to do it for like 10 days which is a total blessing for our family (and me!!). We prayed so hard that the Lord would bless this process and that if it was supposed to happen it would.....
