January 2016--week 1

Happy New Year! (It's really May 2016, but hey, at least I'm getting this documented)

In the spirit of catch up, I've decided to break up January 2016 by weeks.  Thanks to the advances of technology and my addiction to social media, I find that I take many photos to post, and those posts with a bit more back story can help become this blog.  Ta-Da!

New Years Day was spent with my dad and his finace Samantha.  Lindsey got a few watercolor sets for her birthday and so Grandpa was kind enough to spend some time with her teaching her how to use them and they painted this together.  It was fun!

Matthew always has more energy than we know what to do with.  This is one way we've handled it--we make him run.  At first he didn't like it at all but in time he's learned how good it is for him.  He's AMAZING--the kid can run 2 miles without stopping and not even seem winded.  Granted he's not going fast and we tell him he can go as slow as he wants but because he's always so anxious to get on to other things.  Our Bishop, Mark Atkinson describes Matthew as "Lightening in a bottle" and he's about right.

Sam has really been improving this season in basketball.  It's partly because we got him a basketball hoop for Christmas, and partly due to some great coaching but we've seen him "get it" this season and do so well.  Go Airbenders!

UILCompetition for Sam and Kaitlyn.  We're so proud of these two.  Kaitlyn did this last year and enjoyed it, so she tried it again this year.  She really wanted to make a team so she tried out for more than one and made 2!  Sam wasn't going to try out, but his teacher from last year, Dianne Tran, approached me as she was the coach of the Oral Reading team and she thought Sam had a natural ability for it.  Sam has stage fright, he does not like being in front of people so I didn't think he'd do it, but he DID.  And he came in 4th place in the district!  We were so thrilled and proud of him, of both of them!

Sunday fun time as a family often includes games.  This week we tried out a new game from Grandpa Lewis called "Wonky" and it was pretty fun!  Love spending time with my favorite people!
