It's 2017! January week 1

 It's a new year!  Bring on 2017!

Still on Winter Break from school we decided to take advantage of dad home and no school and went and saw a GREAT movie called Hidden Figures about some African American women who were key to the early days of the space program because they were human "computers" it was wonderful and uplifting and we really enjoyed it!

Kaitlyn accomplished something great--she completed all her piano curriculum.  No more books for this girl, now she selects major piano pieces and works on them for a long period of time.  She's doing beautifully and is beginning to accompany things at church.  Her future on the piano is so bright, this is a special gift of hers.

Snow flurries--are a big deal here in Texas.  They happened while the children were at school and we weren't sure they would stick.  I happened to be up at the school that day having lunch and the new principal was cool enough to let me take my "littles" outside to see them for a moment.  Good thing they were still around after school for them to crunch a bit in the "snow".

Super proud of this kid who represented Marion again in the UIL competition in the area of Oral Reading.  He placed last year at the district level and while he didn't do as well this year, he still enjoyed it and did a great job.  Proud of his hard work, dedication and being willing to try.

BIG changes at the McKneely home.  We had a ROOM SWAP!  Kaitlyn has really wanted her own room but we've had concerns about that.  Of all the kids, Sam is the most tidy and would keep a room "company clean" better than the rest of our kids.  Matthew and Lindsey are the best buds these days who really enjoy each other and they have the same bedtime.  So we decided to move Sam to the guest room and move the littles into the "boys" room.  We declared it only temporary for six months until summer but so far it's been successful.  AND we de-junked a bunch of stuff to make room in the closets, etc.
