We enjoyed our annual McKneely boating weekend with Stephen's family. The Houston peeps come in for a few days of boating. This year we stayed overnight at a hotel in town so we could be closer. It was fun!
And to commemorate the starting of school, grandparents McKneely gifted each of my kids a school bus cookie and a sweet note. They have such good grandparents, so blessed! And then Sam went home with them to spend some time being spoiled by grandparents.
While he was gone we took this crew to an indoor climbing place that we've been wanting to try (Sam isn't the biggest fan of heights and climbing). This was a climbing place that had been converted from a bunch of silos. What was cool was that they allowed us to use our own gear, and since Stephen knew what he was doing, we could bypass the "required" class and get right to it. We'll be back for sure!
Kaitlyn is a bit of a clothes horse. She wanted more new school clothes than she "needed" and than my budget would afford so she's been working and saving her money to get a few more items--these are mostly her purchases, she is so proud of herself! She shopped sales and really made smart purchases.
As summer comes to a close some of our normal traditions come back around: The annual Back to School Parade. Only the two littles wanted to make posters. We met friends for donuts at the pool before hand.
I final family outing of the summer was to attend our second Rough Riders baseball game with our POGO pass. It was SO HOT and it was really tempting to get ice creams. But as things at events like this are so super expensive, we had a lesson for our kids. They could choose to get an ice cream there at the game. OR if they could delay pleasure, they could choose their very own carton of Blue Bell Ice Cream--either way they were the same price. All of them chose to wait. So, Monday, after the first day of school, we tromped to Walmart so that each of them could choose their ice cream.
Another final summer fun was hosting the ward youth boating outing at our boat club. Kaitlyn was excited to have her friend Alleigh come with us. Even after all the youth left, she was able to stay and do more boating.
